Sharing Christmas with others at Haworth Road

Once again Christmas started on 10 th November when, in our Sunday service, we were able to dedicate 36 Shoeboxes before their long journey to children & families in Eastern Europe, who otherwise would receive nothing. We held a Coffee evening for Action for Children, an event shared with Trinity Church, Wilsden. The first Saturday in December was our Christmas Market when so many people from the area enjoyed looking at various stalls and fellowship during refreshments. The next event was to sing carols with the Stroke Group who used to meet at Church but now meet at Café West in Allerton. They were so delighted to share with us once again. Our a nnual Senior Citizens’ Party for the local community, organised by Church and Sports Club members, took place with entertainment following an excellent meal, as always. The annual Ecumenical Community Carol Service led by Rev. Christine felt special. We once again prepared an evenin...

Come and have a cuppa at Haworth Road Methodist Church

What an achievement!! The Drop-in Centre opened in May 2013, with the aim of providing a regular meeting place for anyone to come into our church Welcome Lounge for free refreshments and fellowship given by members of our church. Meeting every Friday morning, from 10-11.30a.m, we have a six week rota of roughly 24 of our members, who provide their own baking, or purchase cakes and prepare drinks as necessary. There is no charge, although a plate is there if anyone wishes to donate. All donations received go to local charities. At first we did not have many visitors, just a few of our own members, but gradually the Drop-in has grown and now is usually very busy. A lot of our own members enjoy conversations when there is no restriction on their time. We have made lots of friends. Lonely people now welcome the chance to talk while they are eating the delicious food provided. We have a regular table of men sharing local gossip and solving national and international proble...

Parade Service at Haworth Road

On Sunday 31 st January, our morning service was an Own Arrangement led by the leaders and children of Rainbows, Brownies and Guides.  Their theme was ‘Promises’ and the children dramatized the story of Noah’s Ark and God’s promise.  I hope you can spot the Ark, the Animals (2x2) and the Rainbow in the photograph. Four members of the congregation told of promises they had made -  Baby’s Christening, Proposal of Marriage, Marriage and Adult Baptism in a Baptist Church. During the service the Bradford West Division Commissioner, presented Girl Guiding Long Service Awards to Karen (Guides) for 20 years, Christine  (Guide Leader) for 40 years and Janice (Brownies) for 50 years’ service. We congratulate them all and thank them for the amazing amount of time and dedicatio...

Haworth Road Methodist Church Weekend 2015

On Friday 15 May, many of our church family set off for our annual visit to Grange-over Sands. This being the 11th year since the weekends were reintroduced, a new team had been formed to be at the helm, planning and organising our time together.  Following the usual format, there was time for discussion, free time, fun and worship. The theme of the weekend was ‘Promises’ which proved to be full of scope and provoked lively discussion within the groups. Saturday evening is always fun as we join in a game or two & several of our number shared their talents and entertained us well. Epilogues relating to the theme were ably led to end the formal part of each evening, though the chat as always went on long after. Sunday morning worship and communion service was very special as Rev. Christine focused on our rainbow theme and dedicated the individual bookmark promises we’d made and offered to God.  All too soon, it was time for traditional Sunday lunch, after which a few l...
