New Life in Zimbabwe

The January 2015 edition of The Link carried an account of a coffee morning held at St Andrew’s, to raise money to support a family in Zimbabwe, which had fallen on hard times. The daughter of the family, Barbra, lives in Bradford with her husband and three children, and attends St Andrew’s. She had told us of their difficulties. The coffee morning raised £651 for the family, which has enabled them to set up a chicken farm and given them a new lease of life. Praise the Lord!

We received the following letter from the family, together with some photographs

“My family send their thanks to St Andrew’s Church for their generosity, love and kindness to my family in Zimbabwe. They are happy with the help they received from the church. They were sad after the tragedy of losing their children and being left to look after 13 grand-children, after both their parents died.

My mother’s health gets worse, and my father had an accident, when a tree fell on him and affected his back. This meant that he could no longer farm as he used to do. St Andrew’s Church has given them hope and brought happiness into their lives. Now they can look after themselves and their grand-children, sending them to school.

May God bless St Andrew’s Church, Barbra”

Message from the Link

D ISSUE 16 OCTOBER 2012 ear Friends How many times have you heard people say in your church ‘Well, I didn’t know about that!’  Quickly followed by, ‘Well, if you read the notices …’ Communication within churches can be wonderful, it can be a little frustrating and it can be never quite what we had hoped.  The same is true across the Circuit, and very soon we will be reviewing methods and means of communication.  Part of this review may include looking at ‘The Link’ and ‘Outlook’ in the light of our focus upon Mission.  For example, it may be that we move more towards what has happened and how it worked to encourage churches to think about the stories that they have to share, rather than being a notice sheet of things to come. Which leads me to ask, have we ever wondered about who it is we are trying to communicate to, and about what?  For example, there have been many adverts in ‘ The Link’ about coffee mornings and cake....
