Haworth Road Drop-in Centre

The new Drop-in Centre at Haworth Road Methodist is proving a great success. We have been operating for a year now and the regular visitors who come most weeks are enjoying time to chat, exchange views and generally have a good time. At Christmas we were entertained by choirs on two successive weeks. The Thornton Singers, and our own choir members joined us and sang carols which everyone joined in, and also enjoyed mince pies and Christmas cake.

We meet every Friday morning from 10.00 and the centre is open to all. Members of the Church work on a 6-weekly rota to provide home-made confectionery and warm drinks, for which there is no charge. We have a well-stocked bookstall and also have home-made jam available. Voluntary donations can be made, but this has never been pushed; we want people to come and enjoy friendship and not feel they have to pay. We have welcomed many people from outside the Church, and we hope that the Lord will work within us, to spread the good news and bring more people to our Church.

The aim of the centre is to be self-funding; each group of helpers donates cakes, biscuits etc. and any money donations we have received from visitors are given to local charities in full. This week we have been able to distribute money received from voluntary donations to four charities as follows:-

The Blenheim Project £125
The Shipley Stroke Group £125
Teen Challenge UK £125
The Sick Children's Trust £125

We think this is a fantastic achievement from a venture which was not intended to be a money-making scheme. A big thank you to all those people who have felt they wanted to give a small donation; the four charities which we have helped this time will be very grateful for our gifts. We feel God's blessing on our Drop-in Centre and hope that we can spread the warmth of His love to all who come.

If you are passing on a Friday morning, please come in and join us; you will be most welcome.

HOPE Together & HOPE Revolution

Dear friends, You are personally invited to attend an exciting evening at  Bradford Academy  that we hope will bring people together from Bradford and Leeds to see how further  Unity, Prayerful Worship and Missional Transformation  can develop between the two cities. Back in July 2012, we saw over 50 young people, 12 leaders and several churches from across Bradford and Leeds join together in a 2 day pilot mission. We partnered with a local church in Bradford to share and witness to Christ's love in word and deed. In addition to this, we included young people in the conversation of ways in which to help connect both cities in the future. There are many people interested in exploring the potential of developing something on a larger scale, culminating in a week of mission across the two cities in 2014.   Your attendances and input will help shape the way forward: We would like to invite you to an exciting evening of information about HOPE Together and the y...

Christmas at Thackley

Our Christmas activities started in early November collecting donations for Christmas hampers for Bradford North Foodbank. Our Christmas Fair swiftly followed on a very chilly late November morning with the first snow of winter! The Fair raised over £600 and we are grateful to Monday Mums for serving refreshments, to the Ladies Group for their yummy cake stall, to the Brownies for their chocolate tombola, the Guides for their tombola and for making lip balm and to everyone else at Team TMC for the many varied ways in which they contri buted to the success of the morning. For several years we have shared one big Christmas card and given the money we would usually spend on cards to charity. The charity is Caring for Life which changes lives by sharing Jesus' love with the vulnerable; if you've not visited their wonderful coffee shop, make it a New Y ear's resolution to do so - http://www.caringforlife.co.uk/ . This year's fabulous Chr...
