Plans for Improving the Buildings at Baildon Methodist Church

Dear Friends in other churches,
Plans for Improving the Buildings at Baildon Methodist Church
We would like to share with you our aspirations with respect to our premises over the next 10 years. We value you as our neighbours and we would like to afford you an opportunity to view these aspirations and in particular give you an opportunity to provide any comments on any concerns you may have.
Our Ideas are: Marley Hut: We need to replace the very "elderly" Marley Hut which currently houses the Baildon Pre-School.  The new building would be a 2 storey, environmentally sustainable building and would provide an additional meeting space which we need for children and young people.  The Ground Floor of the new building would contain the Pre-School just like at present; the Upper Floor would provide space for uniformed organisations for which we have waiting lists and groups that we are unable to accommodate at present;Wesleys Cafe: We need to improve Wesleys Cafe to bring it up to mod…

Fair Trade Pop Up Shop

Fair Trade Pop Up Shop 9.30 am to 5.30 pm
Everyday except Sunday until Saturday 1st June 2013 13 Market Street Bradford BD1 1LN
The shop is selling a wide range of gifts, jewellery and homeware etc imported by Fair Grounds from across the world – all from small scale producers. There are many items that are not found in the Traidcraft and Created Catalogues. We would be delighted for people just to come to look with no pressure to buy anything.
There is also a 90kg mountain of rice, that if sold will enable a Malawian farmer to pay for a year’s basic secondary education for one child. We are hoping to sell all 90 of the 1kg packets during the 2 weeks. (Maybe just a little bit of pressure there!)

The non-slip walking stick - May prayer column

Bradford North Prayer Column:  May 2013
The non-slip walking stick
The ground shifts under your feet.  The old values slip and you don’t know what to believe any more.  What do you stand for?  Or against?  Small comfort that previous generations also had their seismic shifts: what about our dilemmas?  Sabbath observance; marriage and gender mores; rival religions; the truth of the Bible; safeguarding and trust.  Add your own items to the list of uncertainties (or things you can’t talk about).
But Jesus is the Rock of our salvation.  His words (his alone) are the solid foundations for us to build on.  Begin with him and there is hope; end with him for eternal security; continue with him day by day and find light for our paths.  So now is the time to rediscover his words and find direction.  He has sent his Spirit to breathe new life into us, and part of that new life is having Him within us as Helper in our hobbling walk.
To the Spirit’s whisper we can listen: He explains the Word.  Lis…
